Florida Fried Kitsch

    taken with Holga 35mm

We are back from our trip in Florida. Basically, we balanced my appetite for the roadside attraction with my son's interest in animals and roller coasters. We hit a Renaissance Fair in Tampa, Weeki Wachi Springs where they have put on mermaid shows for many years, Sea World and some other miscellany. I guess i will be posting images for a while as the film is developed. I did explode my Diana camera on the pavement at the Holyland Experience. But other than that, I am hoping some good images will come of the trip. Hard to count on anything before actually seeing the results though. As this was the first time I have packed a digital camera on a roadtrip, I now need to figure out how I am going to get those images printed out. And while I remain devoted to analog photography, it was nice to have a digital camera at times I have to say. So, more to come.

Cool shot, G.
Do they still throw balls of bread into the water for the catfish and call it "catfish football"? When I was four, I thought that was the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Just posted some shots from the opening of the LC Gallery show this weekend over at tc.com. I have many more, but can't fit them in one post. If you want any of the jpegs, let me know.

That is soo awesome! :) Now I have to go up there. I can't believe I've never been up there, living in Florida for 14 years.

Great job on the 35mm, too. I should've grabbed some pointers from you on that while you were here. :)

Beautiful image -- did you use an infrared filter? It has that surrreal IR quality to it... I like the film border frame too...

Ridiculously cool. I assume this is 35mm 'modded' into a Holga, no? Did you process this yourself? Overall, wonderful shot. I just love the sprockets and an almost LensBaby type of feel to it.

Well I guess I have the same questions as everyone else here but I wanted to add what a stunning shot I thought this was. Certainly feels as though it's from another era.
